Raila Odinga and Senate Minority leader Moses Wetang’ula on Sunday
reprimanded the government for “its casual approach” to tackling
insecurity in the country.

“The UN has already confirmed that what is
happening in Bungoma and Busia counties are crimes against humanity.
Therefore, Kenyans demand answers on the increased cases of gang
attacks,” said the former premier at Busia Catholic Church during a
prayer service for the victims of the attacks.
He added: “It is the duty of the government to protect its citizens and their property from criminals.”
Mr Odinga regretted that despite escalating cases
of insecurity, police and intelligence officers were spying on the
opposition instead of tackling the menace.
Two weeks ago gangsters attacked three villages in Teso South killing at least three people and injuring several others.
Mr Wetang’ula claimed the attacks could be a
revenge mission by some leaders who may not be happy with the elections
results from the region which voted for Cord. The team later consoled
survivors of the attacks at Busia District Hospital.
